Our story

Our mission is to be simply better in all we do. Learn about Foster Farms and all the values that make us tick, er, cluck.

Staying true to Max and Verda
Founded in 1939 by Max and Verda Foster, California-based Foster Farms remains family owned and operated to this day. With operations located throughout the West, Foster Farms continues to be one of the most well regarded poultry producers in the United States. Even as we’ve grown, we’ve always stayed true to our founding principles of integrity and product quality.
Principles that guide every step
Family farms
Foster Farms flocks are never raised in cages. Our chickens and turkeys are grown in barns designed to keep them safe from environmental extremes, while allowing fresh air to constantly circulate.
Food safety
Foster Farms maintains a comprehensive Food Safety program and is committed to leading the poultry industry. We were even recognized for our leadership in controlling salmonella to among the lowest levels in the industry by US Senator Dianne Feinstein, a champion of improved food safety.
Conservation
We maintain extensive leading conservation programs to save millions of gallons of water each year, eliminate plastics wherever possible, and use energy-efficient methods to create a healthy and comfortable environment for our chickens and turkeys.
